 A brass cased ships clock with bevelled glass to the opening front door. A painted dial with a small sweep seconds hand signed 'A Johannsen & Co 149 Minories London E'  with a slow/fast adjuster. A well cast solid brass case with a top opening hinge. An 8-day duration timepiece mechanism of higher quality with a precision escapement. Circa 1920.

Johannsen & Co are recorded in Loomes 'Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World' book as working in London from 1863-9. He is also listed in Chronometer Makers of the World (Tony Mercer) as a great maker supplying other makers. He worked from various addresses in London from 1859 before finally moving to 149 Minories in 1865. The firm continued in business until 1937.
