A fine quality Dutch marquetry longcase clock. A walnut case with floral marquetry inlays. Brass hood columns and rear quarters. A double raised plinth and base panel with re-entrant corners to the mouldings. An arched hood door and fretwork side panels. A gilded, cast pendulum aperture to the trunk door. An arched brass and silvered dial with 4 season corner spandrels. Lunar moon phases to the arch with silvered lunar month date. A seconds dial and a large aperture above 6 o'clock with days of the weeks. Chased engraving to the dial edge. Blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism of high quality striking the hours on a bell and 1/2 hours on a smaller bell. Brass cased weights. Circa 1760.
The dial is sgned 'Barent Dukhoff, Haarlem'. Many Dutch longcase clocks of this period are very tall, this one is of neat proportions. There is a nice old label to the inside door with some history.
