An English Georgian twin fusee bracket clock. An elegant mahogany case with a stepped pediment and the original finial. Regency Gothic design features. Brass capped side columns. Brass sound fretted side panels with silk backing. A cast brass bezel with convex glass and standing on brass ball feet. Brass edged, recessed front panel with carved foliage. An arched glass back door. A convex dial with blued steel hands signed 'P J Le Gros 1, Upper Crown Street Westminster (London)'. A quality double fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell of 8-day duration. A nice quality graduated scale pendulum adjustment. Engraved by the maker to the backplate. Circa 1825.
Peter Le Gros of London is recorded in Loomes' 'Watchmakers & Clockmakers of The World' book as working in 1828. He is also noted as a mechanical model maker so a talented maker.
