 A small proportioned Georgian mahogany Somerset longcase clock. A slim case with an arched pediment and side glass hood apertures. Gilded hood front and rear column capitals. Choice flame mahogany case veneers and an arched trunk door. An arched brass and silvered dial with blued steel hands. Lunar moon phases to the arch and engraved 'Musgrave Taunton'. A seconds dial and a rarer feature of an inner date dial with a brass hand pointer. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Circa 1780.George Musgrave of Taunton is recorded in A J Moores ' 'The Clockmakers of Somerset' book as working from 1750-1795. Various examples are noted in the book.
