 A well proportioned Devonshire drop dial wall clock. Choice flame mahogany to the case with the original side carvings and trunk centre. A cast brass bezel to the 12" painted dial signed 'CARLETON TORQUAY' with blued steel hands. An 8-day duration timepiece fusee mechanism. Circa 1860.

William Carleton of Torquay is recorded in Ponsfords' 'Devon Clockmakers' book as working at Fleet St in 1856, Park Crescent and Torwood St. until 1890. He did work to the tower clock at Torre Abbey in 1875.
