Kembery Antique Clocks
The established specialists
A small, late Victorian Railway fusee dial wall clock. An 8" painted dial signed 'B.R (N.E) and numbered 2559' with blued steel hands. An oak case with choice grain below. A cast brass bezel surround. An 8-day duration fusee timepiece mechanism. Circa 1895.
The dial has not been repainted, this was often the case when the railways were nationalised in 1948. British Rail workshops would repaint and names would be put over 'L.N.E.R' for example. This is likely to have been utilised at this date. There is a large written mark on the rear of the case 'S O' which could have been South Bank, South Cave or Southburn which were stations in that region. There are also lots of numbers and marks on the inside of the side door.
