 A Cheshire Georgian longcase clock. An oak case with choice grain to the wood. Crossbanding to the hood and trunk door edges. Gilt capped fluted hood columns. A caddy top pediment  with fretwork panel below typical of area in the 18th century. Fluted trunk side columns and a shaped trunk door top. A raised plinth panel with re-entrant mouldings. A brass dial with corner spandrels and a well engraved dial centre signed 'Jas Green, Nantwich' A silvered chapter ring. Date and seconds indicators and blued steel hands.  An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Circa 1765.


James Green of Nantwich is recorded in Appleby's' 'Clockmakers of Cheshire' book as working from 1738-1771.
