 A Scottish Georgian longcase/Grandfather clock by Arthur Howie of Paisley. A mahogany case with choice flame mahogany veneers and satinwood crossbanding. A swan-neck hood pediment with dentil cornice mouldings and twisted brass capped side columns. Matching trunk side columns.  An arched brass and silvered dial with date and seconds indicators. A well engraved dial centre. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Circa 1795.

Archibald Howie of Paisley is recorded in Whytes' 'Scottish Clock & Watchmakers' book as working from 1769-1785. Arthur is likely to be the son.

Height 7ft 3"/ 223 cms  Width (at widest point of hood) 20" / 51 cms Depth 10" / 26 cms.
