An 18th century Quaker hooded wall clock. A patinated pine case with moulded top to the pediment. Side turned hood columns and an arched side door for mechanism access. A small 7" square brass dial and a lovely original single blued steel hand with quarter hour dial markers. A silvered chapter ring and central alarm disc. A 30 hour mechanism with anchor escapement and the original small lead weight. A smaller weight for the alarm mechanism. Circa 1740.
Early quaker clocks turn up infrequently and are often unsigned. Most were made in the Oxfordshire area.
