An English double fusee Bracket/Table clock. An ebonised case with bell top and brass cast carrying handle. Silk backed side fretwork panels. Cast recessed panels to the case front and back corners. Chamfered door sides and a moulded door frame edging. An arched brass and silvered dial with corner spandrels. A recessed name cartouche signed 'Jessop, London'. A strike/silent dial and lever to the arch and a date aperture. Blued steel hands. An 8-day duration twin fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Circa 1780 and later.

Josias Jessop of London is recorded in Baillies' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1781-1794.The quality fusee mechanism has been changed in the Victorian period but retains the original Georgian dial. This is reflected in the lower price.
