 A Welsh Victorian twin fusee bracket/table clock. A mahogany case with a domed and scrolled pediment. Arched brass side sound fretwork and stepped moulded base. A recessed base panel and standing on bun feet. A cast brass bezel with convex glass (camera reflection shadow) and a domed painted dial. Blued steel hands and signed 'J R Joyce Ruthin'. A double fusee, 8-day mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Pull cord repeating.


The Joyce family of clockmakers, James John and Robert are well recorded in Peates' 'Clock and Watchmakers in Wales' book as working from 1835. They worked at Clywd and Well Street and an example in the Welsh Museum. This example dates to circa 1850.
