A late Victorian fusee dial wall clock of large proportions. An oak case with a cast brass bezel surround. A 17" painted black dial of tavern clock design with gilt hands and signed 'GRIMSHAW & BAXTER, LONDON'. A substantial 8-day duration timepiece fusee mechanism with counterbalanced back weight. Circa 1895.

The company of Grimshaw & Baxter was formed in 1879. In 1909 it was merged with J J Elliott. This is likely to have been in a public or large company due to it's size and quality.
