A fine quality English Regency period fusee mantel clock. The original ormolu gilt finish to the case. A smaller proportioned cast bronze case with convex case sides with recessed gilt panels. A gilt dial with engine turned dial centre and 'moon' blued steel hands. A single fusee mechanism of 8-day duration signed 'Barwise London' to the back plate. A heavy pendulum bob with finer pendulum adjustment. Circa 1825.

John Barwise is recorded as working in London from circa 1790. He was a fine maker of clocks, chronometers and watches. A fine clock by Barwise is in the Lord Harris Collection at Belmont, and examples of his work are at the Guildhall Museum in London.
