An impressive French red tortoishell Portico mantel clock of smaller proportions. An enamel with blued steel 'moon' hands. A gilt and porcelain pendulum marked R A' for retard/advance (slow/fast). Corinthian capped to the 4 columns and brass capped base. Well fretted gilt foliate panels to the case front and platform. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a gong by Grignon of Paris. Circa 1875.
