1953 OMEGA 'FAT ARROW' r.a.f WRISTWATCH

Watches

A 1953 Omega 'Fat Arrow' R.A.F issue chronometer wristwatch. A very rare military wristwatch in great condition. There were approximately 5900 of these watches issued to R.A.F pilots and officers in a span of just one year, 1953. The lume on the dial was originally made using a substance called Radium, which turned out to be radioactive when stored in large quantities. The Ministry Of Defense recalled these watches to change the substance on the dial to Tritium, indicated by the 'T' in a circle underneath the Omega logo. These watches are identified by the 'fat arrow' instead of the normal thin arrow which is found on most British military watches. The watch is complete with the original inner anti-magnetic cover, which was needed to protect the mechanism from any magentic interference the watch may come into contact with and to preserve timekeeping. Case back is marked with a broad arrow, NATO codes and batch/order numbers.

Case width 37mm
